Alex contacted me via Instagram to set up a downtown maternity shoot for himself and his wife as they were expecting their first baby, a little girl!! They said that downtown Aberdeen was very important to them as they spend so much of their time there anyway. I LOVE downtown Aberdeen and feel that it often gets overlooked and not enough attention, so I was all for this sweet maternity shoot!

Specifically, they wanted to start the shoot at High Octane - a quaint and adorable little coffee shop in downtown Aberdeen that is a refurbished 1930s gas station which is pretty freaking awesome! The coffee is delicious and the interior is a perfect industrial chic. In the summer, they open up the garage door you see here to allow in that crisp summer air. It's right by the train tracks and who doesn't love being able to sip on delicious coffee while watching the trains pass?! Not to mention, supporting local is pretty freaking awesome-r and I'm pretty biased to female owned businesses because ya know, empowerment and what not.

We left High Octane and continued stopping through Aberdeen along our walk. We used lots of the local landmarks to the shoot and I think that Genesis was absolutely GLOWING. I personally don't think it's fair for women to be gorgeous while pregnant because I looked like a busted can of biscuits. I laugh, but totally serious.

Regardless of where you choose for your photography session, just know that we will find the beauty in the location no matter what. With that said, I do love knowing what the outfits are going to be and choosing the location from there. As you can see, the surroundings and brick from the downtown buildings complemented Genesis' white dress perfectly.
